“No one heals himself by wounding another.”

Bullying is an issue that persists in today’s world on a great scale, one that people need to be made aware of. Many young girls and boys out there are scared of going to school and scared of wearing any clothes that will expose their skin. They are afraid of talking in public and voicing their opinion because, for years, their words had no effect. For those of us who haven’t been bullied in any form, it might not sound like a big deal. We don’t understand why kids commit suicide because some girls in school called them fat or pale.

But that just isn’t it. Words cut deeper wounds than swords ever will. Children that are subjected to these harsh criticisms begin believing that they are truly worthless and that everyone hates them. They start thinking that they are ugly, dumb, weak and that they are not capable enough to stand up for themselves.

But, what they don't realise is that the only reason why bullies say such horrible things to them is because the bullies are the ones who are truly scared. They are fearful because they know they aren’t talented enough or smart enough to grow in life.

They know that bullying is the only way they can gain even an ounce of attention. They know, deep within, that they are the ones who are truly worthless for all they know is how to put people down.

For those of you who are hurting, just remember this- you are far more capable than what those bullies have made you believe. You are unique and different. You are beautiful and smart and better than those who are suppressing your uniqueness simply because they’re insecure.

For the rest of us, don't merely watch when you see someone getting bullied. Stand up for them. You are strong enough to do that. In fact, you are stronger than enough to do that. Don’t remain a spectator but be the reason that that little boy or girl looks forward to attending school. Be the reason that they grow up to be successful and confident individuals.

Saying NO to bullying is our duty as humans, for we have ‘humanity.’ We know what is right and what is wrong. We know when someone is being wronged. So let us work together and fight for each other.
